Terms of Service

By using birtallab.org or the contributor platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding agreement. Contributors confirm they have the right to contribute the language samples they submit.

Keep your credentials secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly of any unauthorised use.

Do not: submit content you have no right to share; impersonate others; upload unlawful, harmful, or hateful content; attempt to game quality or rewards, scrape, or attack the platform; or misuse the workspace. We may suspend accounts that breach these rules.

You retain the rights you hold in your contributions. By contributing, you grant Birtal Lab a worldwide, royalty-free licence to process, validate, and include your contributions in research and in datasets, consistent with the Data Rights & Consent terms and your consent. Community ownership and attribution are governed by Data Rights & Consent.

Where compensation applies, it is described on the platform before you contribute. We do not guarantee a specific volume of tasks, earnings, or continuous availability of work.

The platform, brand, and software are owned by Birtal Lab or its licensors. Our research methods and benchmarks are released openly where stated; that openness does not transfer our trademarks or platform rights.

This is research infrastructure under active development. Datasets, methods, and outputs are provided for research purposes "as is," without warranties of accuracy, fitness, or non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law.

You may stop using the service at any time and request account deletion. We may suspend or end access for breach or legal/operational reasons. Sections that by nature survive (licensing of already-published data, disclaimers, governing law) continue after termination.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Birtal Lab is not liable for indirect or consequential losses; our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the claim.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Uganda, with disputes subject to the courts of Kampala, without prejudice to mandatory local rights you may have.

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
