Taking part in the research
A few speakers of Sudanese Arabic, Zaghawa and Fur, recording everyday speech in their own language — and other speakers checking it. You need a phone or a computer, an internet connection, and as little time as you can spare.
How we work with contributors
By voice
Contribute by speaking — no writing needed. If you speak your language, you can take part.
Your time is yours
You choose when you record and how much. You can stop at any time, and nothing you have already given is held against that. We do not pay contributors today; if that ever becomes possible, it will be agreed with you beforehand, never assumed.
You decide about your recordings
You agree to how your recordings may be used before you record anything, and you can withdraw that agreement later. What that means in full is set out in Data Rights & Consent.
How taking part works
- 01
Tell us about you
A few short questions about you and the language you speak. Someone from the team reads each one.
- 02
We get back to you
If we can start now, we set up your account for the language you speak. You read and agree to the Amāna consent before recording anything.
- 03
Record and review
Answer everyday questions out loud in your language. Other speakers check each recording, and only the ones they agree on are kept.
Join the research
Tell us a little about yourself and the language you speak. Someone from the team reads every application and replies by email; if we can start now, we set up your account for your language.
